Mining pool is a node operated by a mining pool operator which communicates with miners who choose to delegate to it their hash power.

If a mining pool block producer or dpos block producer are disliked, miners or voters change how they delegate their power.
You can argue about permissionless entry on PoW vs all PoS, but it doesn’t change the fact it’s basically identical.
You can run mining pool nodes or block producer nodes across multiple nodes and even multiple ip’s as in the end the only thing that really matters is the solution to the hash or the signature in the block.
